Il palazzo Dario, anche noto come Ca’ Dario, fu costruito nel XV secolo dal diplomatico della Serenissima Giovanni Dario come dote per la figlia.
Secondo la leggenda popolare, il palazzo sarebbe maledetto: Marietta, la figlia di Giovanni Dario, si suicidò buttandosi nel Canal Grande quando il marito cadde in disgrazia (poco dopo sarebbe stato accoltellato a morte in quello che probabilmente fu un complotto). Il loro secondogenito, Giacomo, fu assassinato a Candia poco dopo. Tra i successivi proprietari del palazzo, il commerciante armeno Arbit Abdoll dichiarò bancarotta poco dopo averlo acquistato, il miliardario americano Charles Briggs fu costretto a lasciare Venezia perché accusato di omosessualità e si suicidò in Messico, Filippo Giordano Delle Lanze fu assassinato dall’amante all’interno del palazzo stesso e John Entwistle, il bassista degli Who, morì d’infarto una settimana dopo aver affittato Ca’ Dario per una vacanza.
Tra i veneziani si diffuse già ai tempi delle prime morti l’osservazione sull’anagramma dell’iscrizione sulla facciata della casa, VRBIS GENIO IOANNES DARIVS, che poteva essere trasformato in SVB RVINA INSIDIOSA GENERO: “Io genero sotto un’insidiosa rovina”.

Palazzo Dario, also known as Ca’ Dario, was built in the 15th century by the diplomat of the Serenissima Giovanni Dario as a dowry for his daughter.
According to popular legend, the palace is cursed: Marietta, Giovanni Dario’s daughter, committed suicide by jumping into the Grand Canal when her husband’s political and economical downfall (shortly afterwards he was stabbed to death in what was probably a conspiracy). Their second son, Giacomo, was then murdered in Candia.
