In Rainbows, settimo album in studio dei Radiohead, è stato annunciato il 10 ottobre 2007 in modo irrituale: la band ha permesso ai fan di scaricare l’album direttamente dal proprio sito pagando un importo a loro discrezione, anche zero. Al momento del checkout appariva al posto del prezzo un pop-up con un punto interrogativo che, se cliccato, recitava solo: “It’s up to you”. Per la prima volta nella storia dell’industria musicale un disco importante veniva reso disponibile a offerta libera. Nel 2008, i Radiohead hanno registrato una live session intitolata In Rainbows – From the Basement, parte della serie creata dal produttore Nigel Godrich: dal 2020 è disponibile per intero su YouTube.
